Hi there

I have just succesfully after some problems, managed to give my whifes old ASUS P2B new life with my old PIII 600Mhz. That was done through the use of a slot1/socket370 converter.

I have set the converter up to use the default voltage which is 1.65V. But in my BIOS is says 2.05V. But I am not able to see the CPU temp. The CPU runs perfect, but for how long at 2.05V?. I have tryied to use ASUS probe without any luck. How do I read the CPU temp??. If its possible through a converter??

What next??? Which program??

Thanks.

if your bios, you should have the latest installed, is reading 2.05V then I suggest that you set the slocket to give the cpu 1.8V or else you'll probably end up frying that chip if you're using standard cooling.
the p2b didn't come with internal cpu diode temperature monitoring so you'll not see the cpu temp in bios even if your slocket allows it! :(

The P2b has a 2 pin header (connector) to the left of the cpu slot, and just behind it. I don't remember what it is labed...wait, I found it...it's labeled JTCPU. You need a thermistor, Asus P2T, to plug into the header with the thermistor as close to the CPU core as you can get.

Thanks alot guys.

bacillus: I lovered the Voltage to 1.80V as you suggested.

Bingo it now runs nicely on 1.77V. That is alot better than the 2.05V I was getting before.

I still canot read any CPY temp. Maybe the suggestion you lenjack gave me, is the only way to get the temp.

Thanks alot for suggestions guys.
