I am loving optorite HD burn!

Now my 700mb cdr can store up to 1.4gb, althought my other cdrom or burner won't be able to read them, I'd be buying another optorite burner very soon in the future so that won't be a problem is this one is dead 🙂

I think HD burn was a good idea that came along too late. With DVD burners at $50 and DVD blanks at $0.50, I can't see storing data on CDR's any more unless the amount of data is small enough to justify.

That's the first that I've heard of that - which model? If I could run KProbe, *and* use HD-Burn, that would be ideal. I currently own a LiteOn (Sony rebadge) 52x CD-RW, it runs pretty good, and I like that I can use CDDoctor to check burn quality. I don't yet own a DVD burner.

And I think you can only HD-Burn iso data and not music and video. If it can burn just about any file then I can see HDBurn take off.

I have a LiteOn LTR-52246S, but according to this page... LiteOn LTR-52246S - Features it has no HD-burn feature, only Smart-Burn. 😕

Nero gives me the option for HD-burn. It's either the Lite-On or my BTC 1008IM DVD burner that gives that option.

even 2.4x or 4x I'd be happy

NewEgg has the NEC 2500A for $63, which is a very good 8X drive. You're not going to get a better deal than that unless you buy someone's used 4X burner.

Actually, there are probably a lot of people around here who would love to send you their old burner for $25 - $35 so they could have an excuse to get a 2510A for $79.

dvdburners are too cheap these days. and media when on sale is getting affordable. divide it out per m/b and ur even or beating many cd-r deals. 1dvdr is over 6cdr after all. dual layer once price drops will just drive the nail deeper. ive had too many cd burners die on me to trust a format like that.

you are correct that cdr are still quite useless for even 1.4gb but it is useful for some cdr that you still have and want to make use of it. a temporary solution heh.

Are you sure? I have both of them, and neither offers me HD-burn. I had a rebadged Optorite DD0401 that I ditched (maybe defective) because of it was sloooow. However, the HD-burn feature was awesome 🙁
