I am looking for LCD TV recomendations.

Hi , I am totally out of the loop as far as LCDtvs go.
I had an Infocus projector for my HD needs.
I got rid of it last year when I needed some cash
and have been on a 20" tube TV since.

Id like to get an LCD that is HD capable
and that makes regular DVDs and TV look
good.

My budget is around $500 and id like to get one
as big as I can afford.

Id appreciate some recommendations, advice etc.
thanks

Some considerations. What are your sources (OTA HD, PC, resolution, etc). Viewing distance, ambient lighting (though I guess coming from a projector, you have a dark area). If, as you indicate from your post, you ae only concerned with tv and DVDs perhaps a tubed display would be preferred. Any gaming?

I'd check out AVS forums for doing some research, and visit local shops to judge displays.

$500 will probably buy you a 32" LCD if you find a decent deal on one. If you don't mind refurbs, I think I've seen a 37" go for around that price.

But as Slammy1 said, either we need more info from you, or you can go to avsforum to find a lot (too much, sometimes) of information.

I just posted this in another thread:

I know Newegg is a great place to shop for computers and other electronics, but I think their return policy on TVs is lacking. If you have a Sam's Club or Costco close by, you can pick up the 32" Vizio for around $600: Costco Sam's.

I know that Costco no longer has their eternal return policy on TVs, but someone on here recently said that Sam's still has theirs. Also, Costco gives you 90 days to return it. I haven't read any reviews on this specific Vizio, but the reviews on the other ones show it to probably be the best of the budget brands.

Edit: Here's a thread on avsforum about the Vizio. Here's a cnet review on it.
