I am looking for a sound card that is compatible with Windows XPHome

Logically I thought the first place to verify compatability was microsofts XP home page. They list about 40 different cards ranging from Creative to Yamaha to Santa Cruz that are "designed for Windows XP". So in my shopping in the for sale/trade section I have been checking that possible cards are on the list. In my search I have come across someone selling SoundBlaster Live! Value (CT4830) because there are reportedly no XP drivers for this card and Creative has stated that they are not planning on making any XP drivers for this version. THIS IS ONE OF THE CARDS THAT MICROSOFT STATES "Designed for Windows XP". Meaning how can I be sure that others that they state are compatible, truly are when I try to install them.

So to make a long story longer, I'm looking for direction on which cards will absolutely run with XP.
(I'm looking at any in the SB Live series, but if you know of other companies that would be helpful)

-thanks
Robert

I have the Santa Cruz running in Windows XP Pro...and it's been doing okay. Hasn't given me any problems. Should run the same under XP Home. I believe some users have gotten the Audigy to work, while others haven't had that much success. The Philips Acoustic Edge also works under XP, as I have read, and they've been updating the drivers as well. Hope this helps.

thanks Ojai00, I'll keep an eye out for those.

and thanks for the link Yadda but thats the same crummy list I was referring too. You would think Microsoft had some idea of what hardware is compatible with their products, eh? (hehe, what am I thinking.)

The soundblaster live value works perfectly in XP. I know, because I'm running it RIGHT NOW 🙂

thanks ya'll.
From all the reviews I've read, I'm going to try and locate 1 of the TB Santa Cruz cards. Never tried Turtle Beach but those I've heard from that have em', seem to like em'.

I think you will be happy with the Santa Cruz.

I went from a SB Live (old value version) to a S Cruz last year, and like I said have had no problems.
