I haven't seen Todd, but I enjoyed I am Legend. Will Smith is just such a fantastic actor (but so is Depp, so...)

I saw both. I enjoyed both movies. However, Sweeney Todd is the better movie.

Just make sure to bring a neck brace or something.. I found myself holding my neck through most of the movie of Sweeney Todd. Sweeney Todd was just excellent. Loved the movie. Awesome presentation, and the performance of a lot of the supporting cast members were awesome.

I never really had a thing for musicals, but this one probably tops them all.

I heard a lot of people get their throats cut in Sweeney Todd. I can't stand to see that.

I Am Legend was awesome, though.

perhaps b/c the story has been done to death by this point, I didn't find I Am Legend all that spectacular. It was pretty good, for sure...but too cliche'd at this point. and not really as deep and symbolic as people want to say it is. Everything behind the story was blatantly obvious to me...

I'm dying to see There Will be Blood. the reviews are outstanding and it seems to be an extremely successful departure from P T Anderson's typical work. What I can't understand, though, is that it is constantly advertised as being released on 12/26, then I see special sneak previews dated for 12/29 (this, on the film's homepage). Can't find a showing listed anywhere....I'm baffled.

Incidentally, the coin toss came up tails with Sweeney Todd as the victor, so thats what I'll be seeing.

Polls also encourage MANY more people to contribute opinions.

Also I think you made the right choice ... I've seen both & Sweeney Todd was a far better movie.

I saw Sweeney Todd last night and, like the others here, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Very good performances by everyone involved.

It is ridiculously gory however, so if you're sqeemish it might not be the best option.

Sweeney Todd hands down..
I Am Legend was good 2/3rds or the way. The last third of the movie sucked IMO.

You do know that Sweeney Todd is a musical right?

That kills it for me.

I can't stand singing in movies.

Does Sweeney Todd have all the bizarre Tim Burton things in it? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was too weird for me, and the rest of his stuff gets a thumbs down too.

Is that being played anywhere in Chicago? Last I checked it was only being shown in New York and LA, probably due to Oscar eligibility. I saw the preview for it while watching No Country For Old Men, and I am also very intrigued. It also seems like a departure from PT Anderson's earlier work since all his earlier movies are ensembles. This movie, at least from the preview, seems to only deal with one person.

If by "bizarre Tim Burton things" you mean Helen Bonham Carter, then yes. Unfortunately. That woman is offensively ugly.

Sweeney Todd was practically the same as the hit Broadway musical. It was not as weird visually as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but it does have a gothic mise en scene.

I didn't know who she is, but a quick Google search later and I'm struggling to type this reply.

I'd say Sweeney Todd. I haven't seen it but I was disappointed with I Am Legend. Too much product placement and the ending was rushed.

Sweeney Todd looks a lot better to me, and has received much better reviews. I haven't seen either and would choose sweeney todd. I don't know that I even will bother seeing I Am Legend.

lol, you bash the poll system implying it's too simple, then use the least objective method of all - a coin toss. Brilliant! lol

Some people, yeesh. Never satisfied.

I just got back from Sweeney Todd, excellent movie, but very gory, especially near the end.
I doubt I'll be buying it though, it is not the type of movie you can watch more than once. Unless you want to impress people with your collection of gory movies.
