Are there alternative routes to panic attacks?

My friend uses vicotin and some other meds for his depression--he gets emotionally cranky and acts like a 5 year old a lot!

><GG)

they tried a few other things but they had no effect at all. This combination works to stop the attacks, but man...just man

What kind of Quack would give you a narcotic for a panic disorder? You should be taking something like Paxil.

this is pretty much a short term, get me under control type thing

I go to see my doc on friday to discuss long term choices

Probably not. "Legality" is just an arbitrary technicality.

Just wondering since most posts based on other intoxicated states are quickly locked.

this is more of a thread about panic disorder and it's treatment. I am posting not about pink flying squirrels trying to seduce my lawn furniture. I am coherent, I am just very relaxed and it feels like every muscle in my body is made of rubber.

Try to get at least vicoten out of your system. Take a good strength acetaminophen if you feel that you still need it, but get the narcotic out. If you need the xanax, keep with it, but keep in mind that xandybars can have long term psychological effects with prolonged use. I don't know anything about naprosyn, but I've seen the other two drugs you are taking do damage to friends and acquaintances. I would recommend taking a good look at your diet, stress levels, time management, and other parts of your life. Try taking caffeine or alcohol out of your diet. Maybe cut back on sugar. Look for any compulsive behavior, any other drugs, alcohol, bad food, large purchases (esp. on credit), porn etc., and try to restrict them. An anti-anxiety drug like paxil might be good. Another therapist might be good, one who doesn't use drugs as a primary tool who focuses on transpersonal and/or analysis. Yoga and/or meditation might be good.

very good advice, and I am sure my lifestyle is the reason for my problems. But its things I cant control. I work alot in a very stressful job. I have tried to get a new job, but the market here in michigan is the worst anywhere. Drugs arent anything I ever do, and I drink maybe once a week (but not now that I am on all this crap? My diet is actually good, I eat healthy for fear of becoming a fatass. I dont make large purchases, dont use credit at all anymore really. Other stressful things include my son being a diabetic and the issues that go along with that, my mom is very sick, and wont get any better. My kids mom is irresponsible and is basically a drug addict....the list goes on.

I cant fix those things, I just deal with them. But sometimes it gets to be too much and I have no way to fix it.

I had panic attacks and realized it was the vitamans I was taking. They had herbals in them. Once I got off I was fine. My point is to look at your diet. Just last week I was having heart palpatations. I figured it was gas but turns out it was the 1-2 POTS of coffee I drink each day. Maybe I'll get a decent night's sleep soon too now that I am cutting back.

pots? as in....... pots?

GoodDad

I've suffered from Panic attacks since I was 14 ( now 38 ) and have been on Paxil now for over 5 years with excellent results. I now only get a small panic attack about once a year.

Thing to avoid : caffeine ! if you must drink products that have caffeine then make sure you back it up with lots of water.

Speaking of water ... drink lots of it daily btw.

Good luck to you.

Must be the Xanax making you high because I take Vicodin and Naprosyn together quite often and I'm not high, I just feel better.

I have panic disorder and started off with Xanax. It just made it worse for me because it is so addicting, and it doesnt last long. After millions of pills, none that helped, I finally tried Paxil CR and i do not have panic attacks anymore. I occasionally take a Klonopin. I recommend Paxil CR for a long-term treatment. And try not to get attached to Xanax.
