I am having problems with my Sceptre LT12G LCD panel?

I have an older 12 inch Sceptre LCD panel that works fine for a few hours and then it dims down to a point where I can barley see the display. It is still there but it is really faint, too dim to see detail on the screen. I have tried adjusting the brightness but I am unable to see any results. I adjusted the resolution and refresh rates as well that seemed to help out at first but then the problem returned a two weeks later. When the monitor is working there are bright and dark portions of the monitor it is kind of uneven is the best way to describe it. Also it has been running in a cold place about 40 degrees farenheit. Could the temperature be the problem? I know that it is liquid crystal but 40 degrees does not seem to cold? There also settings called Phase and Clock but I lost the users manual and I am not sure what these settings are for or how to set them correctly? The support page of the Scepter website has not been much help either? I would really appreciate any input.

Sounds like the backlight inverter is going out on you. The bright and dark portions of the monitor is and indication that one or more backlights is burned out.

Thanx for the help! Is it possible/cost efficient to replace the back light? What about the room temperature being to cold is that an issue as well? I have been running it now all day in a more stable (warmer) room temperature, and have not had any problems with it? Except throughout the day the monitor has just went dark for no reason and then a few seconds later it lights back up. I am baffled but the back light thing makes sense because the light and dark spots are still there.
