Also, I am having a bit trouble thinking if I want SLI or not for a few bucks more. I don't think I want it cause I probably will not buy 2 of the same cards, but if it future proofs me for more SLI cards coming out than more power to it...

Anyway here are the mobo's I been looking at and have been recommended too...

I been wanting the Abit AN8 for the longest time, but I really don't like the fact that is is non-ultra so I was looking at 3 others...

Also my new upcoming rig is going to be a

AMD64 3700+ sandiego
1gb corsair XMS
200 seagate SATA
ATI x850XT pci-e

This rig will be strickly a gaming rig only and I plan on oc-ing just the video card and cpu.

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
I like this one but it is up there in price and it seems to not have as many features as the others...

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
I am not all about the colors but most of you will pick this, I know it... lol

ABIT AN8
I like the looks and the features and you can't really beat that pretty nice price...

And the

CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra
ppl keep recommending this one because of the cheap price for an ultra.

I have a friend who modded two Ulra-D's to SLI motherboards, anandtech has an artical on how to do it.

It even boots up as a SLI board.

I dont know if it still works but it should.

If ocing, get the dfi.

I had bad experiences with MSI boards in the past, so I don't buy those anymore. The NF4 Ultra DFI board was a nonstop hassle to get working reliably, the documentation is non-existent. I've had longer manuals with mousePADS. 😛

I'm looking at an Asus A8N-SLI Premium for my next motherboard. From my experience, I have never had an Asus board give me problems. Never once. Abit has been good to me too, but I've been reluctant to buy them until they sort out their financial problems, which they appear to have done.

here is my best kept secret http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127187 i just bought it on newegg 77 bucks...come on now...its got abit softmenu too..what cha gonna pick now..its no brainer..only 1 pci-e slot tho

I have the AGP version of this board (Abit AV8), Just be careful if you are using a CPU with a 9 multi, the AGP/PCI lock on my board breaks down over 260 HTT and i have to use the 8:2:1 ratio instead of the lock, which is limiting my OC with my 9 multi 3000+ winie to 2.4Ghz (267 x 9). If you are using a 10 or higher multi i would say go for it!!!

I am not sure if the AX8 has a similar PCI-E/PCI lock pblm or not, but i would make sure I did the research first before i bought another Abit board. Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me!!! 🙂
