I am having 1-3 second lag spikes every 60 seconds.

i keep getting these lag spikes when i play in servers on CS:S and battlefield2 its like a 1-5 second lag spike that happens and i usually end up crashing or dieing when i paly because of these stupid constant lag spikes.. any1?

Could be a lot of things such as driver prob,hardware prob, heat problem or to long in between OS installions.

Do you have any automatic update programs running other than Microsoft's? Some of these 3rd party updaters are crazy - I had one for a HP multifunction printer which checked for updates every minute. See some of what's starting up via MSCONFIG.

A good starting point for troubleshooting will be the Windows Event Viewer.
