Started getting my grades back, and have been fucked over in two classes, maybe a third since I still have yet to receive two.

College is fun, by I seriously cannot wait til May. I want to graduate, and only have to worry about the eight hour work day. I look forward to coming home and just, being able to enjoy the rest of the day, without having to worry about exams/grades.

For the record I am a mechanical engineer and this is why I am going to be extremely pissed off all weekend.

engineer eh? good luck with 8 hours...
though I must say I'm not missing the finals at all. having a large portion of your performance decided in a couple of hours is stress.

how were you fucked over in two classes? you mean you got a lower grade than what you think you deserved? If so, approach your professor about it.

You'll find out that you had a lot more free time in school than you actually thought at the time. And forget about regularly scheduled multi-week vacations several times a year.

Making some real money is nice though :D

I know many engineers and it will not end once you get home from work.

My uncle is a petro engineer and has to work on weekends when "things" happen. My father (computer scientist) is on call 24/7 and has to go in to work to fix things when they break at like 2AM on top of his 7:30AM - 5:00 PM work day. On top of this, they are all salaried, so no overtime for having to do these things. The pay is pretty sweet though...

I graduate in May as well (computer science), going to try and get a masters.... not ready for the real world yet.

I hated college too. 1st year was fun, 2nd year was getting stressful, 3rd year was retarded stressful. Sometimes it's even worth skipping lectures so you can work on stuff. Like I had this one class for technical report, we had to write a huge report that we had all year to do. The class itself was just lectures and other stuff that was pointless. The grade of that class was the actual TR. So I would always skip that class and take that 2 hours to work on the TR. Priorities. ;)

Dude, you will not just be worrying about 9-5pm, especially today. You will be worrying about feeding yourself, buying shit, sucking you bosses or other companie's c***s and wondering if you can live with doing what you are doing for the next month every day.

I hated college, but got it done and almost miss the near absence of responsibility.

I went to school for computer engineering, did very well, but I definitely had much more time in school than working. Plus the whole getting up early thing sucks. At school, it was more or less optional. At work, get up or be fired.

The class I got a B+ I really feel I deserved an A, so I'll have to see about that... where as the class I got a C+ in, I was expecting the B (I had a B+/A going into it), so I was already pretty upset as it was. There were four questions, two of which I knew how to do completely, and the other two... I don't even want to think about. It was the second semester I had this professor, and these two question were unlike anything I had been used to. So this is the first time I get below a B since freshman year.

If only finals weren't worth 40% of the grade. :(

Ok, I should maybe have had the title as "bring on the real world, where I have a job I enjoy, and make a lot of money" :D

You will be worrying about feeding yourself, buying shit, sucking you bosses or other companie's c***s and wondering if you can live with doing what you are doing for the next month every day.

You're making me feel better already. Except anything money related I shouldn't think will be a problem... but the wondering if I can live with doing what I will be doing is the only part that actually worries me about life after college.

Ok well nothing more from me here. I thought about it, and there's no reason to be completely upset over something that already happened (unless there is something I can do it about it). One class maybe, the C+ I'll just have to accept it. There are people in much, much worse situations than I am. I really shouldn't be complaining.

Wasn't thinking to clearly after I saw those two grades, and thoughts came from emotion... which are usually irrational.

A few years from now I can only hope that I will not look back and say "I wish I were still in college".

I've been out of college for almost two years now, and I can assure you, the real world is much better. Don't listen to jaded old people that tell you you will miss it. They either A) forget how much school sucks or B) were rich and spoiled and didn't support themselves through college.

Are there things I miss about college? Sure - but as a whole, its MUCH betetr once you're out.

+1

Way I see it if you are in the real world and don't like it then change it. Nobody forces you to keep a certain job or profession. If your job is giving you tons of overtime and it's making you tired, then you have the right to refuse it. That's what the union is for and thats why you pay fees. Make use of the union.

For example I'm on call but I can refuse any time. Like if I get a call on christmas I'll most likely refuse but if I can fix it over the phone then I'll take the 2 hours pay for it. If it was college I'd have no choice but to do all the work during Christmas and teachers WILL be jerks and give work because "you have a whole two weeks off". Hated that.

i tried that the spring quarter of my senior year. i had a major case of Senior itis.

i got an F in biology, a 5 unit class. i needed a science class to graduate. i went to the professor's office and asked him if i could have 3 units of D instead of 5 units of F. boy, did he get angry.

i ended up petitioning to have a computer science class counted as a science class.

wierd thing is, now biology is really interesting to me.

When you start applying your education in your career and find out how valuable a well rounded education is, you will be more thankful.

Common sense, work ethic, communication skills, temperance and emotional stability are not taught at any school. However combined with a good education with a open-mind that can think critically can become a very powerful and successful tool.

Untrue, I'm ~1.5 years in real world and enjoying it so far.

It's not perfect, sometimes customers or in office situations piss me off, but it sure beats the crap out of college. I can go home without worrying about any of it, and it's almost stress free. There's maybe 1% as much stress as college had.

But it really depends on what job/profession you get. I suppose being a doctor is WAY more stressful then being a level 1/2 IT guy.

Hmmm... Being single and having an AMAZING amount of spare time with an almost limitless supply of single partners and parties around every corner.

or

Real world money, work, bills, and family obligations.

There is a lot of bullshit to put up with in college. The BS in the real world knows no bounds.

If you say that you don't miss college after you're done - then you did it wrong.
