I am greatly displeased with UPS. Greatly.

I ordered a 17" laptop from Newegg which was scheduled for delivery today according to the UPS tracking service. I went on line to make sure it was out for delivery and lo, it said it was delivered yesterday afternoon.

I was greatly displeased.

So I called UPS and they said that it was delivered (no signature required, which I thought odd, but that would be on Newegg,) and was told to contact them. I spoke with a nice woman who told me that one problem they've been having is that people are following UPS trucks then running out and stealing items the moment after delivery. I paid for yet another (and not cheap) laptop while Newegg gets this resolved, and I was assured that I will be credited and a discount was given for my trouble.

Well things happen and what does one do? I'll have the new one tomorrow Fed Ex'ed to me (who have proven infinitely more reliable) with free one day shipping. Can't complain there.

So why am I unhappy? Because my saw my son after school today and he mentioned that he saw the UPS van (which would be exactly when it was "delivered"). His bus went around the van which was stopped on the road then went into another driveway. My son let the dog out and the driver slowly drove by my house looking at him and the dog and never stopped, like at all.

I am greatly displeased.

I called UPS again and let them know just that and precisely why I think they should be on the hook for this, and the representative is supposed to call me any minute now.

Yeah stuff happens and I don't know the arraignment that Newegg has with UPS, but I'm not paying for something I'm not getting and I think they shouldn't either.

I can't wait to hear the excuses. Oops phone is ringing now.

This.

Although it sounds like your neighbor has your laptop.

UPS said that it was delivered to a neighbor but the description of the house doesn't match it. If they are going by GPS exclusively I don't know where it went. Addresses don't match up very well. I did go next door and was told that they did get a package but it was for boots. Who knows if he's lying or not, but apparently wherever it was delivered to is on video. It seems drivers are using "helpers" who walk packages to homes and that's how it got messed up.

Well at least I'm not on the hook and came out ahead in terms of costs. Dumb mistake though.

if I were you, I'd still post about it on an internet forum!

I ordered a new bike the other week and on the UPS scheduled delivery day I was perturbed to find out when I got home from work that some other packages were out on my porch, but not my bike. WTF UPS? Whers's my bike yo?

Turned out that since it required a signature the driver came back a second time on his way to headquarters cause he knew I get home at 5:30 and would be wanting my bike. Thank you UPS and UPS employees, you have never failed to impress me with your efficiency and customer service.

Yesterday we had an item delivered by UPS. Normally when they deliver they bring it to the back door and ring the bell. This package however was ripped open and had been sloppily taped together (it was still gaping open). I had heard them pull up, but rather than come to the door, they set it on the side of the house and left.....I was a bit upset over it, however fortunately the item was in a 2nd box and was undamaged however I have no idea how it would have been handled had it been damaged.

my UPS guy is awesome... it's better to have the same guy doing the route every day and of course even better to be at home to receive them all the time.

If anything, I'd think that Fedex service would suffer more - I see their trucks flying on streets and when they deliver something they RUN to the door with the package, ring the bell, and fly off. They must be under some heavy time crunch all the time.

Near the local UPS distribution center, at the end of the workday I'll see their delivery trucks sitting in various parking lots in the area, dumping out old soda or coffee on private property and such, or sitting and having a smoke. (It can get a little nasty if it doesn't rain for awhile and wash it all away.)
I don't know if they're just running out the clock, or what the deal is.

I'm not near a FedEx center though, so I've got nothing on them.

They rescheduled my package that was supposed to be delivered today. Don't understand...argh.

Did it to me too. This was their excuse:

The address label is missing or illegible. / Delivery rescheduled.

It got delivered the next day but the label wasn't missing or illegible. I inspected the box, there were no other labels besides the original one slapped on by Newegg.

UPS sucks ass in my area. My mom is at my house cause she helps babysit my kids and UPS just rings once, then runs off before she can even go open the door. We're talking literally leaving 5 seconds after ringing the doorbell. One time they left a package at a local shop instead of at my house even though my mom was home. It's gotten to the point where I usually request to have it held at the UPS distribution center so I can go pick it up myself or I get it delivered to my workplace.

I got a "late trailer" notification for my package that was supposed to be delivered today.

also ordered from Newegg, on TG. I used "Fast Track" free with AMex, which is supposed to promise 2 day delivery. ...I assumed Newegg would consider Friday a business day, and that the package would be here Saturday, or Monday at the latest.

Nope, it wasn't processed and shipped until Monday. Then it arrived "late" last night--11pm apparently which, in my experience, is nowhere near late for the local sort facility.

I hate UPS.

You guys are amazing, if you ever saw the preload sort go down at this time of year you'd probably understand. I worked there during school and you would be amazed at the way the trucks look when they go out in the morning. Keep in mind that the majority of their volume is business to business, the trucks fill up quickly when each business has multiple, multiple piece orders. The drivers have to get their commercial deliveries done by each one's end of day, as well as come back at a specific time to pick up outgoing. It's near impossible to sort things efficiently when you have 500+ packages in the truck.
I had four trucks that were 75% businesses in a downtown area. Maybe five residential streets on each that all fit nicely on half a shelf. At this time of year all the residential packages would end up being placed wherever they fit. I'll see if I still have any photos that show the truck stuffed with packages to the ceiling. Also, if you have something rescheduled it's probably because the 14 hours the driver spent working today weren't enough.

Their job is to deliver packages, and to deliver them to the correct location.

- Driving past the house and not even attempting delivery is not doing the job.
- Ringing the bell and allowing <5 seconds for the door to be answered before leaving is not doing the job.
- Throwing the package in the general direction of the door is not doing the job.
- Simply walking to the door with a "we missed you sticker" and no package is not doing the job.
- Delivering to the wrong building (sometimes even in the wrong state) is not doing the job.

Yes, it's busy this time of year.
- Bulk up on temporary help and train them properly.
- Push out your lead times.
- Push your existing staff into insane overtime and burn them out completely so that they do it really half-assed.

That's on NewEgg. They promise shipping times, not handling times. I had the same problem. Amazon prime has spoiled us.

Similar thing happened to me about a month ago. I was waiting at home for a package, but no ring at the door at all that day. I checked UPS's site at about 5 and it said the package was delivered at 2. Huh? no it wasn't.

Call up UPS, and they say 'we delivered it, don't know what you are talking about'. I call the vendor and let them know to file a claim. UPS calls me later and says 'we show it as delivered and the GPS matches, please sign all this stuff that says you aren't lying because we think you are lying'. then the driver came and said 'I personally delivered it, I remember doing it, someone must have stolen it, that's your fault not UPS's.' The vendor said UPS denied the claim, but they sent another.

The replacement came as 'sig required' (which the vendor didn't do; UPS did) and every single god damn package since then has been sig required which is annoying as hell.

Recently, the missing package was left at my door with a note from a neighbor about a mile away saying that UPS left it at the wrong house at a side door that they never check (so it was outside for a long time). the neighbor was nice enough to drop it off. So I was nice enough to write 'UPS blows goats, return to sender' on it and dropped it off at the UPS store to send back.

TLDR: UPS lies and/or their truck's GPS has an error range of at least 1 mile.

It's peak season. Things are ridiculous at UPS. Everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Plus we have seasonal drivers, helpers, and preloaders who suck and don't know what the fuck they're doing.

Just deal with it. Only 13 days left of this shit.

I haven't really had any issues with either UPS or FedEx. Although, one time, they must have left my package with my neighbor, because I had to go ask them for it. I've had UPS leave a package at my door for an apartment number that wasn't even remotely close to mine. I just went over and delivered it myself. I also found some mail for that same person on the ground one day. :hmm: That person has really bad luck with parcels and such.
