I am applying to a hospital, and out of the open positions, the only thing I qualify for is Obstetrics Tech. Labor and Delivery here I come!

High school graduate or equivalent.
Some College courses in health sciences - desired
Current BLS certification for health care professionals - required
Possession of a certification of graduation from a recognized course of study in operating room techniques is desirable.
Certified Nursing Assistant certification - desired


Experience:
One year experience as a certified nursing assistant, or scrub tech desired.
Prior experience in an acute care setting.


Knowledge:
Medical terminology
Aseptic technique
Surgical scrub procedures, use of sterile technique, instruments, and set-up procedures for the delivery/OR room.
Knowledge of the anesthesia cart and equipment.
Proper technique for moving and lifting patients.


Special Skills/Equipment:
Must be organized, and accurate.
Must be able to understand and follow directions well.
Ability to anticipate physicians needs during procedures.
Ability to read, speak, write clearly and legibly.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family and staff.
Ability to establish priorities and follow through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to work well as a team member and contribute positively towards the goals of the team and the organization.
Basic computer skills utilizing windows based programs.
Ability to work calmly during emergency situations.

I am a jobless EMT, and I am trying to get my hands on something. I would be an ER tech, or a Scrub Tech or something, but those positions ae filled.
