Ahhh, I missed this thread but I second the Kerdi stuff. I have both of his books, the Tile Your World one & the Kerdi Shower Book, as well as his bathroom modeling books. They are really great resources...the guy has the system figured out & dialed-in like crazy:

We did my buddy's master bathroom with Kerdi & marble tile last year & it came out awesomesauce. Whole thing is crazy waterproof & looks great!
