I dare you to chant pro democracy slogans in Tiananmen square. Or just yell "Falung Gong" really loud. Hope you can run fast.

I am going back to where I was born (The south, Canton, an hour or so from Hong Kong). I have not been back since I came to America.

However, I was in the North as a "tourist" type in 2001 (came back the very day before 9/11...) and from what I saw of the square and everything else, it was not uptight and I would seriously doubt that any action would be taken if I were to have pro-democratic chants...

Anyhow, let's not get all political and shiet over this (there's a separate forum for that :) )

I was looking for some recent experiences going back as I know there are tons of Chinese on AT...

I hope these " I hope they let you out" posts are sarcastic.......

I can't tell.

As to experiences, I've never been to Guangdong/GuangXi. Post your age and whether you speak cantonese.

Defintely get a local friend that knows all the fun places, if you know what I mean :) Things change very quickly there. You'll be shocked to see how much has changed even in 4-5 yrs. Dont know how long since you left there.

What to bring back? Bring back some nuclear material and see if you can sneak it past US airport security ;)

This Chinese dude working in our cleanrooms went home for a one month visit, and he was there for six months. It took some influence from a California senator to get him back in the States. The Chinese who wouldn't let him leave.

A lot of grad students don't go home because they fear they won't be able to come back. This stuff just started up in the past few years.

It doesn't apply to Americans... I'm under the impression that the OP is a citizen by the way he's talking about his visits to China.

Bring me back a dried up gall bladder from some endangered animal. Thanks!
