I think the title says it all...

I have recently Joined AT, and have been enjoying myself here.

I am quite the regular over on Tom's Hardware and have done a number of 'giveaways' with computer hardware and games etc. I have given away a couple of video cards, a sound card, an SSD, 5 or 6 games (Via Steam) a couple sticks of RAM and some other things.

Anyways, I thought this giveaway I could show some love to you guys here at AT.

Basically giving away an E8400 Intel CPU, the speed is 3.0Ghz.
When it was in my rig a few years ago I kept it overclocked @ 3.8Ghz, since then my brother has been using it at about 3.4Ghz, now I have upgraded him to a quadcore so we no longer need this chip.

Anyhow, all you need to do to enter is to post in this thread.

Tell me what rig the CPU would go in, and tell me why you want it.

Lastly, I will ship the CPU for FREE, but only to the USA and CANADA. ( Will only ship to USA/CANADA PERIOD.!)

It will NOT be coming with a cooler of any kind just fyi.

I haven't decided if I will choose the winner randomly or not yet, I will decide later on. The 'contest' will go for a few days, maybe longer depending on interest, or lack thereof.

This might be a great way to spruce up an 'old' 775 socket rig, or help you in building a new rig altogether, anyways good luck, and God bless! - Annisman.

Sorry everyone, but no unauthorized giveaways. I've notified our omni-potent overlord and asked him to chime in here.

I suppose a moderator can move it there if they like, however I think more people will be able to see it here in the 'CPU' section, it is a CPU giveaway afterall.

But of course if it must be moved then ok.

I currently have e2140 @ 2.7ghz. I'm a poor student and I can't afford a new cpu, this would really be an awesome replacement to help me with cs/source FPS :D

Hey Annisman,

I'd want to use this chip for the rig in my sig. It's a custom modded water cooled rig that I did by myself a couple years ago and am trying to put back together for my parents and bro before I head off to college. I'd slap this chip in, break your 3.8 OC ;), add 2 gigs of ram, and breathe some life into the rig. I think it'd be a nice personalized going away gift for my folks after all they've done for me.

Haha that's the spirit! My mobo was always holding that chip back, thought I could get well over 4.0 with it, but alas had to settle a bit lower. The i7 920 I have now is at 4.0 though = )

On a side note, anyone know how to make signatures here at AT ? I can't find the place to do it, thanks.

if I got it, it would go into a 2nd computer I'm putting together. I have an E5200 for it right now. Why I want it, simple, 2MB vs 6MB of L2 cache

Would be great to complete this upgrade for mom, she's on an Athlon XP 2500+ with only a single core and no form of down clocking/voltage adjustment between full load and idle.

Computer seems almost fast enough for her (she wants better you tube/facebook/myspace performance) but it gets pretty hot in her area and this would be the perfect gift, she'd get some longevity out of it for sure.

Annisman, if you chose me I would give this cpu to my dad. He needs it a lot more then I do.

I'd put it in the computer that my little brother and sister use for school work. Right now they have an Intel Celeron E1200 1.6Ghz chip so it would be quite an improvement.

I'd put it in my syster's computer, she need it more than I do. She has a Pentium Dual Core E2160 with only 512KB of L2 cache in each core and is giving her bottlenecks in games like Mafia 2, Borderlands and Need for Speed Shift, also her flash games like Farmville runs sluggish, and her system responsiveness overall is lacking, sometimes she ask me why and I say, well, you might have a Dual Core, but it has a very low amount of cache and low clockspeeds and she put a face like o_O (She has Vista)

I gave her as a gift one of my HD 4870 1GB cards and wasn't a big of an upgrade compared to the HD 3870 that she replaced. She doesn't have a job and if I win the processor, I will give it to her as a birthday's gift along with another gift that I have for her, her birthday is around the corner, :)
