I am getting "You're currently running MS-DOS mode..." It wouldn't boot into Windows.

The computer dysplays the following when booting up:

"You are currently running in MS-DOS mode. If you want to return to normal mode, to run Windows Applications again [Enter=Yes, Esc=No]?"

If I hit "Enter=Yes" then it loops, re-booting getting to the same message.
If I hit "Esc=No" then in goes to Dos prompt. When I get to the prompt and type in "C:\Windows\Win.exe" it goes back to the same "You're currently running in MS-DOS mode..." message.

I cleaned off AUTOEXEC.BAT thinking that it might be something in there which might have triggered this whole mess. I am really out of options so, please guys any ideas?!

Thanks you all so much!

Look in config.sys for "DOS=SINGLE" line, and delete it if you find it. Also, check msdos.sys (hidden text file).

Choose No and get to the dos prompt.

Then type "exit" and hit enter.

See if that gets you out of the loop.

If that doesn't work do what PowerJoe says :)

d'oh someone beat me to the dos=single in config.sys hehe
