Umm... Did I miss something? I said
four GTX 512 GPUs, which would absolutely DOMINATE anything else in the market... Of course, that's assuming that you have the 30" monitor that can actually make use of their full potential. I understand that X1900XT(X) crossfire is faster than
2x SLI GTX 512's, but
4x is a completely different story.
Also, we're speaking of our current day situation. Speculate all you wish on the G71's power; it doesn't change the fact that it's still yet to be released, and there are no announcements concerning a
4x SLI option for it. If there
was, however...
Not to mention that, assuming money wouldn't be any objection when the G71 IS released, the guy wouldn't have any qualms with upgrading then, assuming that it beats
4 GTX 512s (which it could).
So, all in all, with complete disregard toward money, I believe that getting one of those Dell Renegades with the 4x GTX 512s would be the very best in gaming power (After putting the cards in a more suitable environment, hence, the rig I mentioned above). Of course, I'm not sure when they'll be released (Which does bring us back to availability, and also puts the throne back in ATI's X1900XT(X) crossfire's hands, although even that is somewhat contravertial...), but I believe that it should be pretty soon. Until then, the guy can feel free to buy himself both X1900XT(X) crossfire AND 7800GTX 512 SLI (2x) in two different rigs in order to ensure complete dominance in ANY situation, but...
Well, you know what I mean.
