I am back

So I have been out of the business of crunching for over a year. I got an itch to get back into it. I have 6 computers in the house right now and might get my rack going again (Wife not convinced yet) I am looking for a project that I can set-it-and-forget-it. Also something that can take advantage of dual core processors.

Also if any of the Rebel Alliance guys are still around, pm with the info to fly under the RA flag again.

A real set-and-forget project is Folding@Home, it also has a Linux, Mac and Windows multi-core client (beta stage, runs pretty stable as long as you don't restart your computer frequently).

Other stable projects with enough work would be Einstein@Home, Rosetta@Home, WCG (doesn't run out of work since it runs a few subprojects) (no multi-core support for these projects, they run 1 WU on every core)

Welcome back!

Great to have you back!!😉

DPAD is still a great project for an easy and forget setup! 😀

What do you mean by no multicore support? I'm confused.

there's no client software that uses 2 or more cores at the same time, it just runs the science app separately on each core.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will be relaunching my fleet under the Rebel Alliance flag in support of DPAD.

Oh and how I miss saying "INCOMING"

Nice to see you again!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can still say incoming , It might not have as big an impact but we will always remember the splash of past wu's 🙂 Great times indeed!!!

I am glad to see you posting again bryan 🙂 (this is bryan right? - old age gets us all in the end and I am terrible at names 🙁 )

Yeah Mike your memory isnt failing you completely yet 😛

I found a new way to say INCOMING. I will no-net DPAD and then dump every couple of days. 🙂

Oh yeah here is what my fleet will be once I get it up and running:

AMD x2 3800
AMD x2 3800
AMD x2 3800
AMD Sempron 3400 (Dell)
Intel Pentium D 3.0 (Dell)(HT)
Intel Pentium D 3.0 (Dell)(HT)

And a laptop and another Dell that I dont remember the stats on.

Once the wife is used to me crunching again I will start putting together blades in my shed again 🙂

Awesome mate, Glad to know I am not completely senile yet, I really suck at remembering names but you have always been great and that makes it much easier to remember 🙂

Thanks again for the warm welcome guys. I found out one of my computers has been still running Rosetta this whole time. 😛

And unfortunately I wont be doing much overclocking on the x2 3800's. One is a dell and the other two are on ECS boards that dont overclock well.
