I AM BACK!

Well after almost a week of down time with my home lan I am back! Got my new mobo going (had to buy a new video card too cus the darn 8RDA+ will not wirk with a KyroII card) we are sitting at 2.2ghz with my T-Bred 1700+ and we are rollin! Had some WU's ready to dump in the queue before the crash, so here they come!

What ram settings are you using?

So far the last 2 have been 2:30. I had a freeze last night so I backed off the FSB a bit and will be playing with ram timings. On the 8RDA I am using the expert default. When I start really tweaking with it I will make note and share. But right now everyting is faster than I had with my 8K3A and I have not done near the amount of tweaking yet. But I have stack of papers to read through, it's a 8RDA guide on amdmd.com from their forum that all the members have added to so once I get through reading that, and the system has burned in a bit, I will tweak this bad boy to the max!

hmmm... hopefully you have some way to go there... What kind of ram are you using?

BTW I'm getting 2:47 with .417 AR units and 2:29 with high AR units (above 1.0).
That is using PC2100 ram at 6-2-2-2T running 143 FSB x 15 multiplier.

When my Hyperx PC3000 ram arrives Monday I hope to boost up to about 200 fsb at the same fast timings. I will likely have to back the multiplier down to 11 or maybe 12 😉 but mainly I think it's important to keep the ram timings as fast as possible while maintaining stability.

I tried boosting my ram (PC2100) up as is and could run it at 175 fsb x 12 mult. Problem was it slowed down my seti times because to get stability I had to set it at 8-3-3-3T 🙁
I found running a slower fsb with faster timings gave me better performance.

Hopefully I can have both with the new chips I'll be getting Monday 😉

Ok at the moment here is what is happening

sys performance: Expert
CPU clock: 11.5
FSB: 190
CPU interface: aggressive
Memory Freq: auto
Memory timings: Expert
TRas: 6
TRcd: 2
TRp: 2
Cas: 2

Running my 1700@2185mhz = 2600+

Still have some FSB to go I think with a little more tweaking
I am using corsair PC3200

My last 2 WU's have been .421 AR and they were done in 2:35 and 2:36. Still have some more tweaking to do but I think I may let things sit and burn in where they are right now.

That's odd ,I would of expected it to be a little faster

My XP1700 @ 2.05GHz,178MHz FSB&RAM ,CAS 2.5-2-2-6 ,Dual Channel (which only shaved off about 5mins/WU) ,I get about 2hrs 27/28mins per .417 WU.
Look here at my home SETIQ (ignore WUs on from late 27th to mid 28th as it was at 1.96GHz then)

Have you done a Prime95 test to see if its stable? (its a harsher test than SETI!)

Nice rig btw😀

Thanks.

One thing I have learned with overclocking and seti is that there is a sweet spot you must find. I need to play around and find the right combination of FSB and Mult. I know that most of the time for an overclocker it is to get the fastest rig on paper, but sometimes that does not help seti. With my last rig I got faster WU's out of 180fsb than I did when I was at 185. So once I get all the extra WinXP crap settled down, and find my sweet spot, I hope to get faster production.

I've also found that sometimes if you push the RAM timings & speed just a little too fast it can actually slow down the RAM 😕 ,I guess errors start occuring which incur a penalty

Iv'e Gotta get one of those 8RDA Boards. My KT400 just isn't cutting it :|

I wouldn't worry too much ,you've still got a damn fast rig😀
