I am a wuss... I lowered my overclock.

I backed off the Vcore on my AXP2100+ Thoroughbred. After seeing some threads reporting tbred death, I backed off the voltage. With the hours I'm getting now, I can't afford to buy a new processor (Though, I could if i wanted, I rather spend it on something else).

So right now, I'm running at stock voltages, 1.6vcore and 2.6Vdimm, running a 13x166fsb at 2600+ speeds, Prime95ing it at 40C Full Load.

I'm a wuss...

Maybe I'll raise the voltage to 1.75v later, and see how much OC I can get out of that, but for now, I think i'm happy with this.

You failed us. 🙁

1.75 should be an ok voltage i would think
even around 1.8 would be ok

but if it doesnt give any noticable gain, then why bother with the extra voltage imo lol
i mean, if you get an extra few mhz freq, is it worth the added 0.15-0.2v to most? imo no....

//edit
eehh that makes me sound like a wuss too 😛

if you are not afraid of losing a cpu, by all means go for it lol

😀 😀 😀

I have always been a default voltage overclocker. With an aftermarket heatsink, I wouldn't guess that it reduces the life of the CPU much. The heat is still less than the levels obtained with the stock HSF. It's a good, safe way to go about it. I'm a wuss too... =)

lol
well for the time being i guess im a wuss too 😛

i have tbred b 1700+ in my a7v, but only at 1250mhz (i cant go any higher on mult without modding chip...which i dont want to as im not gonna leave it in here anyways) wtih 1.25v LOL

and my tbird, which normally goes in my a7v, is @1ghz with 1.45v lol (mainly cuz it wont oc worth sh*t....🙁 )

//edit
lol ijust wpuid'd my tbred, and its being detected as duron in wcpuid, but with a family, model, stepping id of 681 (tbred b) and upon startup it reports it as a athlon xp 2000+ (which it isnt...its at 1250mhz LOL)

I've done the same.. going down from a 2.0v to 1.85v 😛

I had it running 5 days straight at 2.0v voltage.. but like Actaeon, reading those threads about cpus dying from high voltage is a tad scary 😱

Dropped my frequency down from 2.41 GHz to 2.26 GHz.. not bad.. but I'll be doing what I can to get the most out of it 😉

Hey, now I feel better! I've been watchin' people talk about all these wild voltages for the past couple of weeks, and now Actaeon's thread is documenting failures...

I was one of the unlucky people who got a 1700 T-Bred "A", but I was able to get it up to about 1950. It would run Prime for 24 hours and more at 1919, but I wanted to lower the voltage to get nice low temps. I'm now running at 1834 at 1.6V. With it's shiny new SLK-800A/Vantec Stealth, it's sitting at 35C. No real difference in overall performance from 1919.

It's nice to know how fast your chip can go, but it's more comfortable to know that it will still be running in 6 months!

I've jumped on the trend too. Tbred 2100+ @ 2.28ghz, 1.7v. After having my 2400+ die on me, it was a little traumatizing 🙁

Well, update on my CPU, it seems to be happy running at 2.16ghz, (13x166) at 1.6v. Its been Prime95ing now for about 16 hours.

I might bump up the voltage to 1.7-1.8, and see if I can get 2.3ghz or so.

I'm rather happy with these results.

What kind of Temps do you get at 1.25v? Just curious.

You changed your mind pretty quick there. One suggestions, increase your voltage incrimentally. Step it up .025v, then wait a day or two before raising it again. This "burning in" is a good way to make sure you system can deal with the increased voltage. I always burn in in addition to being a default voltage overclocker. I'm a poor college student on a budget, so I can't afford to burn out my CPU.

well currently my load is at about 40C with crappy generic goop i just piled on just to see if it would work lol

ill try again later with some better paste
