I bought a bunch of computer parts a few weeks ago, just for SETI. I threw them all together with an old awitching box and a LCD for setup. When I set them up, I ended up using the switching box just for the mouse / keyboard as the monitor signal was getting lost in the switching box. I figured the box was bad. So I set up SETI to auto-run, then turned off the computer, and restarted it to make sure it worked. Everything came out fine. Then I threw the box ( computers ) up on the top shelf of my rack and started them up and left them alone.

My WU's went from 7-8 to 22-23 with the 3 boxes I added. I noticed a drop of 3-4 about a week and 1/2 ago, but attribuited it to the bandwith problems at berkley.

Well, anyway, I decided to set up one of the boxes as a e-mail server for a new domain I will be running soon. I got up on my chair so I could take one box down to set it up, and noticed the power going tot he switching box was disconected. I was hoping I was not that stupid when I assembled the boxes and cables. But low and behold, I pluged it in, and the monitor switching box worked! This is where the moron comes from :p. So I switch to the computer I want to take down, and I have the blue screen of death from XP. the hard drive died and froze the system. AHHH!! So that was why I was losing the WU's! I am such an idiot.

As we speak I am formatting a new (used) drive for the e-mail capabilities. I just wanted to share my stupidity with you all :p

LOL :D
Yea, though, I've had some days like that myself, but though I've had lots of PICNIC errors, not many of them approach this level of...um...nevermind ;)

Am I the only one that is so anal that I monitor SetiQueue remotely many time per day to see if a system is not submitting WUs?

A few weeks ago I felt much like a moron as well! Just before going to bed I ran an Online Update on WinXP Pro on my main SetiQueue box. (I was home for the weekend.) After posting the updates the system had to reboot. It would not come back up! Aaaaarrrrgghhhh! I could not just leave it and go to bed. It took me about 1.5 hours to repair the system. Thanks Microsoft!
