Ok.

So I bought 3 copies of Windows XP over the last 2 months for some builds. One was a 64 bit version. And it says 64 bit on it.

The other 2. Here is my problem.

1 is OEM
1 is Retail. I THREW OUT THE BOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a way to figure out from the product key which one is Retail. (I want to use this for the build for myself)

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the idiocy. Can only blaim my jeans.

Hi Leigh! Hows the motherboard?

Anyway, I suggest you try installing one but dont activate it.
I too have one copy of OEM and one of retail. Am pretty sure somewhere in the installation process it tells you what it is.
Obviously you will need a spare hard drive for this method.

I think there is supposed to be a way to tell just from the Key. I know they're different somehow.

This may not be much help but my retail disks are upgrade versions and say "upgrade" on the label.

i believe the oem discs say "for distribution with a new pc only"
also, i don't believe you can use a retail code for oem and vice versa.
