I am 34 years old and never owned a pair of gloves.

And now I want to buy some from Amazon or something.

What's a decent pair of gloves that I could buy? How do I determine what size my hand is? Are "driving" gloves good enough to keep your hands warm?

Should I just go to Macy's or something and buy a pair in person?

What gloves are people on ATOT using?

all the rage is the gloves that let you fold down the finger sockets if you want for more freedom. You know... in case you need to bang out a set of deadlifts real fast.

what do you need them for? what kind of weather?

It's absolutely freezing in my car this time of year, and my commute to work isn't long enough for the heat to kick in (10 minutes on a bad day.)

My hands are completely frozen by the time I get to work.

So my answer is: to keep them warm during cold ass weather.

Just go to Kohl's or something and buy a cheap pair. If you're only going to be wearing them for ~10 minutes a day you don't need anything fancy.

i've got a pair of leather coach gloves sitting my my glove compartment. They've been there for a few years now, and I've probably worn them twice.

Didn't think of it that way. There are a bunch of street vendors not to far from where I live. I might just go bug one of them and pay like $2-3.

i have a few pairs...... usually i just wear the black fleece type because they match my coat. i used to have the mitten / flap kind with the half fingers, they were good for smoking outside in the sub-zero temps.

For cold weather I normally recommend GoreTex or Sealskinz. Waterproof and insulated is a good idea in winter.

For summer any sort of thin leather is nice. I found a sizing printout online once, lemme see if I can post it.

But I think this is only for Sealskinz. And the numbers are metric too.

I'll take a wild guess and say you've never gone skiing.

I got a pair of thinsulate/goretex gloves back in 1994, still use them. They're not so thick that it prevents doing many things, have a leather pad for grip under the fingers, and do a great job at keeping my hands warm. They won't do much for keeping them dry though.

The real key is to see what you need gloves for. If you're going to be in snow, the ones I have probably wouldn't work too well. But for just ice and cold stuff, they work great. If you're going to be doing heavy work in them, look for insulated work gloves instead.

How cold is it? If you haven't needed gloves til now, you might only need a $10 pair of fleece gloves or even a pair of glove liners. At TJ Maxx or Kohls, you can find a pair of leather gloves for less than $20. If you need super warm, then a REI or EMS would be a good place to go.

Every pair fits differently and you'll want to try them on first.

I found Champion C9 gloves at Target. $25 total for a pair of light gloves (perfect for driving) and a pair of heavier gloves that are still good for driving.
