A decent sports sedan today will run rings around most classic muscle cars in their stock form.
Plus a classicc muscle car is much cooler than your run of the mill newer sports sedan.Originally posted by: mayonnaise
Many just love that prehistoryic type feel of driving something resembling a dinosaur that's really really angry and cant be found in today's quiet, gentle tech full cars.

outperform them and in better comfort? Like take an old Camero vs a newer Camero, aren't the newer ones much faster?

That's for sure...any idiot can run out and buy a brand-new car off of a lot, but by the time 40 years have passed since the last one was made, finding one in nice condition is unusual. I mean, the model T was a mass-production car like the Toyota Corolla is now, but since we don't see them anymore they are automatically cool and command a high price...

And let's talk about working on your own cars... would you rather do it on a newer one or one from the 60s?
He is not and idiot and he is not wrong. They handle better for the most part, are faster for the most part, and are definitley more comfortable. All that being said I still prefer the classic cars for my recreational vehicles because they have a character and attitude that no new car can approach. Plus, if you own the right ones they are one of the best investments there is if you bought them when they were cheap.
This is actually really important. From the factory, even the most evil 60s muscle cars were barely able to break 6 seconds 0-60. But the limiting factor usually wasn't power; it was traction. Those cars came from the factory with rotten bias-ply or wide oval tires that just couldn't put all that torque into the ground. But stick a pair of nice fat slicks on the back and you've got a whole different animal at the drag strip. And of course, with a set of socket wrenches and a little money you could always get more power.Originally posted by: GuitarDaddy
Some of the old muscle cars weren't pansies either. Many of the big block V8 versions where monsters even by todays standards, especially if properly modded and excess weight removed.
And back in the day "modding" was much more common than today. Almost nobody that was a hot rodder would dare drive a stock muscle car. If you pulled up beside a Camaro or GTO at a red light you didn't even have to wonder if it was stock🙂 Back then traction bars, slicks, and open headers were everywhere.

Of course, the modern performance car will still absolutely destroy the old ones in handling, braking, comfort, reliability, etc. But there's nothing like the sound of a built 396, is there?
You can alway fix most of that stuff with a classic. Its a bit harder to make a new car as cool as a classic though. http://www.sn65.com/ This guy went a bit to the extreme but it is badass.

That is awesome. I wonder what he has it registered as? A 65 mustang or a 2003 mustang? I would guess a 2003. That would really be messed up if a cop ran his tag.
