I went to buy a camera case for my DSC-V3, cuz I got a BB gift card for Christmas. As I was standing in line, the guy in front of me was checking out. He had one item; a 6' Belkin USB "Gold" A-B cable. Rang up $24.95:|

I had to hold my breath and not say anything, but gawd I felt sorry for the guy🙁

Aye, let us shed a tear for our ignorant bretheren. Let us pray that in the future they have the foresight to not pay $24.99 plus tax for a $1.00 cable. Aye, in the future let us hope that we can HELP our ignorant bretheren and possibly GIVE them one of the 3,000 USB cables we have lying around the house collecting dust...that we got for free b/c it came with a motherboard or some god-forsaken peripheral device we've long since trashed.

I woulda said something. I've told people things like this before and they are beyond grateful.

I've seen this happen once before. My parents got back from their Hawaii vacation and wanted to make a DVD of their footage in Final Cut. They went to Rat Shack and ended up paying $24.99 for a FireWire cable. Even though I had already had one. Needless to say, after some education, I'm assured it won't happen again.

Best Buy employees normally don't take to kindly to directing their customers away from purchasing their merchandise...especially right in front of them (I've heard enough stories about that here on AT).
 
I get upset when I see people buying monster cables. Very sad how many people have been brainwashed into thinking monster cables are good.
 
Sometimes BB is good for emergencies... like getting to the dorm on move-in day only to realize you forgot that cable...

Hopefully it was one of those situations for that guy... or maybe he wasn't buying it for himself... company paying for it... etc. You never know.

screw that. best buy needs to make money better him than me. the more people buying high mark-up items the more loss leader items best buy can afford to have.
 
I had a client that bought a $100 Monster Cable gold plated sleeved uber ultra DVI cable. I made him return it.

They are good. Just because they are the most overpriced cables on the market doesn't make them bad cables.

I still would not pay that much. I think even Radio Shack has them for cheaper
