something like that happened to me last thursday.
I was taking my dad to day hospital and on the way there a old woman decides she needs to be in my lane. Never mind the fact that we are approaching a stop light. Never mind the fact we are 20 feet from the light. What does she do? She swerves right at me and forcing me to steer my car hard into the curb, scaring my dad considerably. She nearly caved my door in. She didn't even flinch. She didn't even care she ran us off the road.
Do what I did: get the plate and description of the car and file a complaint with the police. While you are at it, get their insurance company's name. Give their insurance company a call and tell them what happened and how you are considering your legal options about being run off the road and scared half to death. Let them know you have filed a complaint. Complain to your DMV (or in my case the Ministry Of Transportation). Write a letter to the editor and make sure their plate is included.
Make as much noise about it as you can, you may actually stop them from killing someone.

I don't know if anyone is in the wrong legally, but having seen people switch lanes for no apparent reason too many times, I won't pull out unless all lanes are clear, or if the person in the curb lane moves farther over to open up that lane.
