not sure it'd get an RX-8, but your choice :).

I wouldn't mind an S4, i'd really like an RS4 in 3-4 years though.

I was givin you shit for your name "AsianRiceX" ... those sound like subtle mods with some nice character

I love thin profiled tires, but damn they are spendy.

I'm not into the stretched tires/ridiculously low stance look where the edge of the rim is a hair's width away from rubbing the fender.

The only mods I would consider are light power mods, a stereo upgrade, and maybe suspension to lower it a touch.

Thank god I'm not the only one.. Every VW/Audi guy i've met tells me I need it lower. I actually like having the ability to take speed bumps at 5mph without scraping..

As for stretched tires.. I think they look like $hit, and I know they ride for $hit.

Talk as much smack as you guys want about VW being shitty cars, but you can't fault the engine at all. They are really decent, fun engines when the weather is right.
That's funny, just a few weeks ago you were bitching about turbo lag and wanting yet another new car.

Kids....

I don't have any direct experience with the 2.0T, but I have the 1.8T in my car (02 Passat). I got it certified pre-owned and ended up flashing it before the warranty was up, but I have no regrest. I've had zero problems with it in the 30k miles I've put on it since the flash. I went with APR, and would go with them again in a heartbeat. Their offering looks good for the 2.0 as well! But what I'm really waiting on is what they're going to get out of the 3.0T in the S4! I'm already saving my pennies so I can hopefully get a CPO S4 in a few years :)

I'm really interested in seeing what they get out of the S4 as well.

I wonder how excited you would get over something with some real power.

I missed this comment. My brother has an Evo X, my father had both a 5.7L (totalled) and now a SRT8 300c...and even my sister had a nice Lexus LS430 a few years back.

I've driven some nice cars. :) The best, by far though is my fathers 300c. That thing is fucking fast.

Fucking fast is a bit of an overstatement.

Of course everything is a frame of reference. My Legacy GT is fast to some, my GTO was fast to most, and my friend's C5 Z06 is fast to damn near all.

Doubt I am keeping it. I am just about to purchase a White RX-8 (maybe tomorrow actually, pending test drive) that I'd like to put a turbo on within the next few months. :)
So when people tell you not to buy this car too, will you listen this time?

FWIW the feelings in your first post I'm having now and continue to have as I drive my Maxima. Today I had it floored in 2nd and heard a sound no Prius will ever make. Still so much on the fence. The max is old but still sounds so sweet.

The VAG 2.0T loves 60F weather; think we had like 2 days of it then back to the cold here in north central Ohio.

It's an old handle from years past, when the internets were still young. :D

APR is having its seasonal sale, a fully loaded ECU for the price of one program... oh so tempting...

Agreed. Something about stretched tires looks... unnatural.

Do it man. So worth it. Best <$600 upgrade you will ever do.

Are you talking about one of those cheap turbo VW mods? A neighbor had it done on a leased car. I cannot remember if he still has the car, I think so, but he intended to take it out before lease was up. He was very happy with it. A pretty serious HP bump. And if you can do it on a leased car, too, who cares how harsh it is on the rest of the powertrain :O

Yes, flash of the ECU and an instant boost. You rarely hear a chirp from anyone regarding having issues related to the flash. And if you are really worried about warranty, you can get a similar flash from Stassis at an Audi certified Stassis dealership...and that will keep your warranty...but you pay at least double the money.

Here is the APR tune for my A4:
http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_upgrade_20tsivl_long.html

You can cycle the program depending on what octane gas you are diving or your mood...so you can even leave it in stock mode 90% of the time and just switch it to 93 when you want some spirited driving...reducing the "extra" strain of 75 extra ft. lbs of torque on the driveline (if there is any...the transmission in my car is supposedly rated at a much higher horsepower/torque) . This basically makes the engine diesel like in power delivery (it's already biased that way with more torque than horsepower).

So, so tempting. You can even get a "test" load where they flash the ECU and it will stay active for 6 hours of driving to give you a taste. I'm soooo tempted.

Im going to wait for another good deal from APR. A lot of times they do some crazy deals at the big VW/Audi shows, if you have one nearby its worth checking out.

Interesting...I'll have to keep my ears open. I don't think I'll be in St. Louis for mor than a few more months...but if I am I'll have to see if there are any local meets that APR plans on being at.

The 2.0T in my A4 QUATTRO is amazing...chip it to 250HP~~ now to get some sort of injectors, and bigger turbo...$$$ .. the pull from all 4 tires is amazing, which is one of the reasons I moved away from VW...the engine sites perpendicular also, which makes for a lot of extra room to work on it if needed.

The 2.0T have some ODD common problems across the board....here's a list I scrounged up to watch out for :

1. Diverter valve failure
2. PCV failure
3. Broken intake ducting
4. Cam lobe wear
5. High pressure fuel pump failure
6. Air conditioning does not work
7. Tumble flap failure
8. Cold start problems
9. Misfires
10. carbon build up

I've never had misfires, but there was a recall on all of my coil packs, so I get 4 new ones for free <3 AUDI.

I also had the cold start problem, but was a quick - under warranty fix.

I am worried about the cam lobe ware, because that's pretty tough to check, unless I go and replace the valve cover thingy.

I heard the carbon build up is a huge pain in the ass, because of the FSI...but again, I can't exactly check that really easily.

How about this injector?

Big GTGs are pretty rare in the midwest (im from Kansas City). But down here in Florida (school) there are a lot more options.

Probably the closest to you is "Midwest Volksfest" in Indy sometime in June. Still too far out to really know whats going to happen

i've looked into this a lot, and audi doesnt actually certify stasis at all.

all you get is some equivalent warranty to replace the audi one you just voided on your engine if you pay the extra money for a stasis flash.

the stasis flash also isnt as good as the apr one, and with the apr fully loaded deal you get a bunch of other modes that the stasis doesnt have (nor can the stasis do the switching).

im also considering the apr flash, even though i'm pretty happy with the stock performance, it just seems to be by far the best performance deal around.

FI on an RX-8 sounds deliciously expensive, let us know how the 2nd mortgage and months of downtime work out. :p

I run into GTI's from time to time, they sound so cute with their little bov's. Flashed or not, just don't mess with anything up to and including a stock MS3 or you will be very disappointed.
