I am fine right now, I got some heavy antibiotics and pain killers and am resting a lot and things...but there is nothing on tv so I managed to sit up and use my laptop...sorry for any typing mistakes I am still a bit foggy...
why am I sharing? well I am bored so not why?
Okay so yesterday I am walking to the end of my driveway to my car before work and I noticed my knees were really killing me to walk on them...I was like wth? I have not run or done any physical activity in a while (I broke my arm as some of you might know so I couldn't, but I got the cast off last wednesday but I am still in a large brace). So i thought it was werid and dismissed it though and lumped back to my car...
On the way to work I started developing a major headache, and my sinuses felt like they were going to explode, I have a history of migraines and bad allergies and I already took my flonaze and generic alegra so I took to ecedrin migraine and hoped it would go away...but it gradually got worse...(btw my throat was already sore last night, I went down to the jersey shore, so i thought it was nothing, just a little cold or something from the wind)
Then at 10:00 AM I was in a meeting with a few people and the windows were open from outside...some wind blew in and all of a sudden I got really cold and started shivering uncontrollabley...afterwards I got out of there and realized I had a fever and my head was burning...I took two aleive and went back to work at my desk...It sort of took me a while to realize I was sick, I was really slow because of my headache and things did not register right...so as I am sitting there not really doing anything my headache gets worse and I realize my neck is stiff as hell...I have pain in my lower back and I have extreme body aches everywhere except my legs because they felt like jello...it gets so bad that I said screw it I am going home...as I get up I move my neck suddenly and almost fall over because it made me extremely light headed and I got tunnel vision...so I knew I had to go to the doctor, and I also knew the symtoms of meningitis because of college and high school and we had a kid on the hockey team die because of it...so to be safe I had my friend (who was awesome the whole time who I have to do something for) drive me to the doctor...on the way there everything got worse and worse and I could not open my eyes because light made my headache worse but closing my eyes made my eyeys hot as hell because of the fever...
So i get there he check me out and sends me to the emergency room to get bloodwork run right away...He called and told them what to do and what to set up etc
I get to the emergency room and my friend handed them my insurance card etc because I could not even answer their questions right, I was so out of it...I heard someone say it was probably a bad migraine (the clerk who does not know sh!t) and I have had them before and I wanted to start to flip out at her because I knew this was not a migraine...I got all angry and hot inside and then I guess I passed out for a second because of the pain and they put me into a wheel shair and gave me a blanket because I was shaking...
All I really remember was waiting for a room and then them putting some IV's in my arm and the doctors moving my neck and drawing blood and things...otherwise I had my eyes shut and I was still....then they gave me a pain killer called toradol my friend says through the IV and I fell asleep...
About an hour I guess later they came in and said that my blood work and further labs were normal and they had to do a lumbar tap...I remember them giving me something else in the IV and I remember it was like i was dreaming but also awake...it hurt like a lot even with the pain killers...like an extreme pinch...
then I fell asleep again with a couple of doctors there exmaining me and some nurses watching and checking for small purple ink spots (what you get if you have bacterial meningitis they said later to me)
I woke up a couple of hours later and I felt much better...my friend said they gave me 8 shots of antibiotics and and some other stuff after they got the tests back...I was alert and so I opened my eyes and waited for the doctor...
anyway I still have a headache its killing me so I am going to end this quick...I fill in the details later...but I had a bacterial infection of my spine but it is highly treatable, not meningitis though, that could have been fatal in six hours he told me...I spent the night and then went to the doctor again in the morning where i got some prescirptions and things, mainly augmenten and some more pain killers...I can walk on my own now even though my head and neck are still killing me and if the pain killers wear off everything hurts pretty bad because of the nerves I guess...so I am at home now and resting a lot...I am not sick to my stomach...my friend is taking care of me right now and I am still taking antibiotics...they said they got the infection undercontrol(they took more blood from me this morning) and all I need to do is take the stuff they gave me, but come right back to the ER if anything gets worse or if I have new symptoms, and my friend has to check me every hour for those purple dots.....
so I feel a lot better and I got to give A LOT of credit to my doctor and the hospital because they had some really great guys there and handled everything well...so hopefully I will be good in a week or so and my damn headache will go away....my long time friend from HS is staying with me and he is awesome
I got to stop...
