Ok I have TWC internet service. It came with a wireless router built in with 4 ports coming out. Now I have multi devices that need internet.
for example.
2 computers, ps3, 360, onkyo reciever, 2 dishnetwork recievers and so on.

Now I have been just moving cords when they are needed but thats not working anymore. I grabbed my old router and tried to connect it in. I could not get it to work. I am not sure what the name of what I am doing is called or else I would look it up. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.

I have the 4port cablermodem/router connected into the lan/wan connection on the 2nd router.

I am using the arris cable modem and the dlink dlg4100 and a 2nd router.

if someone could help me out I would appreciate it

I am a little bit confused. see the instructions that are given are for a cable modem connected to a router thats connected to a 2nd router.

My setup is the cable modem and router are combined and I need to add one more router

Theres has 3 devices mine only has 2 does that matter or change anything

You do not need an additional Router. Double NAT (two Routers) is a No No for one cohesive networked. It is used only if you want to create Two independent Networks.

If you do the configuration as I suggested you would have 3 more available ports on the second Router and an Additional Access Point.

you need a switch not a second router.. maybe you can configure the 2nd router to work like a switch idk.

at a minimum, nothing should be plugged into the wan port of the 2nd router. then i would put the 2nd router on a different subnet.. then i think the non-wan ports will effectively work like a switch.

You might have dhcp still left on on your 2nd router, which is either overlapping IP's or putting you in a different IP space...it might also be trying to NAT or route packets... it needs to run at layer 2 only(switching). Your best bet is to pick up a $10 switch on newegg or something cheap if you can't get this working properly.
