This is an old issue. Many groups have been bringing it up for years.

I honestly never connected menthol's with black people. I though their staple was Black and Mild and Swisher Sweets.

Thats more of a southern thing than a black thing, but yes southern blacks also enjoy them.

When I waited tables, on our smoke breaks the servers and cooks would all go outside to smoke and talk etc. All of the black people had menthols, the whites had regulars. Without exception.

Perhaps it's just specific to my location but I have never seen a black person smoke anything other than menthol cigarettes. Although the sample size would be obviously small to the totality of the nation/world.

Where the hell can I go to get a free pack of cigarettes, I pay almost 7$ a pack now, and a freebie would sure hit the spot.

This reminds me of a story an older gentleman in my neighborhood would tell.

He was working at a convenience store when a black guy comes in and says, "Give me a pack of what I am.", meaning Kool cigarettes. The old guy (knowing full well what he meant) looked him up and down and said, "Sorry, we dont sell that here."
