I <3 Monoprice

SunnyD

Belgian Waffler
I ordered a handful of things from Monoprice a few hours ago, and everything has already shipped. They kick Newegg's ass in terms of turnaround time! Gotta love em!

They also kick ass on cheap shipping on cheap purchases. No newegg, I don't want to pay 8 bucks shipping on a $2 accessory. SVC is nice on small computer accessories.

Really nice quality for lower prices. I got an HDMI cable for like $20 which would have cost me $60 elsewhere for the same guage, shielding, length.

I love the site, been buying from them, and passing them on to everyone I know for years. If there is ever a cable you can think of you wish someone would make, they have, or the cables you can put together to make the one you need.

I didn't think they had $20 HDMI cables. I don't think I've spent over $8.

Ditto that. On small items like cables there is absolutely no comparison between Monoprice and NewEgg.

I was gonna say. I think I picked up 2 HDMI gold plated and a DVI->HDMI gold plated cable for around $15 2 years ago.

They do if you buy a 75 footer like I did. 😉

it's 24guage and shielded. Also 20 ft. From what I know, when you go over 12' with HDMI, signal start to drop off really fast. You want a thicker guage wire.

I tested this cable against a 6' $90 monster cable my friend bought for his PS3. We both didn't see a quality difference between my 20' $20 cable or his $90 6' cable on my 42" 1080p screen.

If you think $20 is expensive, Monster makes some absurdly priced cables. I can't say they are worth it or not, I'm sure some discriminating person would see it over me but I haven't seen anything worth spending that kind of money for.

😕 Signal quality? Digital? Digital signals are either all or nothing.

And yes, we know about MonsterSham.

Monoprice seems good enough, but it seems EVERYTHING was out of stock. I was ordering an HDMI cable (first purchase from here) and most of the sizes I wanted were OOS. I've heard nothing but good things about the site so I hope this is a rare occurance. If they have this little at all times I don't know how it got popular.

A digital signal is a digital signal, it's not going to look any better or worse with different cables. A good cable WILL allow you to make longer cable runs without suffering from bandwidth problems though.

They were getting slammed around holiday times. Pretty much any accessory that would be 'standard' for wall mounting a digital TV was sold out.

I guess I have been lucky. Everything I have ever ordered was in stock at and my door within 3 days of ordering.
I  monoprice.

I should have directed the poor sap at best buy last week spending $36 on a printer cable to go to monoprice 🙁

The only reason I was in the store was receipt of a gift card, and I strongly considered giving it to my wife to not have to go in there.

Ordered a bunch of cables from them about 6 months ago. Took about a week and a half to get to my house and they jammed them all in a box that was too small. I opened the box to find an extra HDMI cable and two incorrect cables. I contacted customer service and they overnighted the correct cables and told me to keep the incorrect ones. Have used them before this and will use them again because of great prices and mostly great service.

This really isn't true. An HDMI cable carries a digital signal but over what amounts to a bundle of analog cables. There can definitely be differences in signal quality between different vendors and cables. A detailed comparison test I recently read (which unfortunately I can't find at the moment) concluded that in a 2-meter length any cable worked fine, but in longer runs there were real differences between brands. This is not - AT ALL - meant to be a recommendation for Monster cables, which tend to be merely average in quality and relatively expensive, but I guess the point is that if you're looking at a long cable run it may be worth stepping up to a higher-end cable.

EDIT: Here is the cable comparison I referred to.

FWIW, I too love Monoprice - their products are just outstanding and an amazing value for the money. It's hard to make a case for buying elsewhere unless you are a full-blown audiophile with a system well into the tens of thousands of dollars.

Well again I got mine for the distance, gauge, and shielding. Like ethernet it is copper based wire and it is still vulnerable to interference. I wanted a shielded wire with a guage that will guarantee me no signal loss at 20'. For $20, it was a no brainer to me compared to some overpriced monster cable or even cables to go which I used to buy from.

I'm just repeating what i read on AVS forums and wiki. I did prove to my friend that he wasted money on his overpriced cable.

Oh and I have ordered from monoprice about 8 times for probably 40 items. I have never had an item OOS. Even little oddities like a sansa USB charger (for $2).
