"Concept Genesis is a manifestation of Hyundai's extraordinary desire to deliver world-class products across all model segments," said John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "With Genesis, we've got a unique product position -- an all-new, highly capable, rear-wheel drive platform; a high-performance powertrain; and premium, progressive design - all at a price starting well under $30,000."
Adding to the Concept Genesis' performance factor is the all-new Tau 4.6-liter V8 engine mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual control and a limited-slip differential. The Tau delivers well over 300 horsepower to fit the demands of performance-oriented consumers. This powertrain combination will launch Genesis to 60 miles per hour in well under six seconds. The Tau engine is built with flexibility for the future. Future Tau variants may offer larger displacement, forced induction options and other technology enhancements.

Bits and pieces from the TL, Camry, even a G35. Overall it's not too bad.

Don't forget BMW. However, I am sure the reliability is about as good as if you were to take bits and pieces from all of those cars, slap them together, and pray they all fit reasonably well, at least long enough to go around the block.

I have seen way too many Hyundai cars look like utter trash within 2 years to pay 30k for one.

Looking good. Any interior shots? I'm trying to convince my pop's to ditch the '95 town and country for the soon to be released hyundai SUV (the one bigger than the sante fe). I just wish they'd have nav systems as an option already! i know this car does but I wonder if it'll trickle down to other models.

Actually, i see a lot of Hyundais built after 2003 that are going strong. That was really the turning point for them and their cars are at least as good as their domestic competition, inching toward matching up with the japanese. They're not their yet, but they're making great strides.

Remember, Hyundai is a product of the new Korea - they were once laughed at but now 75% of the stuff in my room was made in korea (LG phone, samsung monitor, samsung tv, etc. etc.). Korea's the new japan.

My dad calls hyundais "disposable cars". I think that's hilarious.

My brother-in-law, a car nut, made a good observation. In the late 70s, his dad used to mock Toyotas and wonder who'd buy that crap. Look where they are now. If you think Hyundai's not making great strides then.. Well.. You're blind and locked in your ignorance.

I would rather get a Toyota or Honda, if money were no object. But hyundais now offer great bang for buck.

You had me at RWD so I don't want to hear any more. If it comes in a manual transmission, then it'll be the perfect car. (But I won't buy one)

Look at the kind of people who are buying them 😉

Your not selling $50K cars to people who can afford $50K, your selling cars that look and have the goodies of $50K to people who can afford $25K and dont take care of anything they own, including any car they have ever owned neglecting all of its oil changes and such. The fact that those cars still run as good as they do, after several years, after being put through hell and back is a testament to its quality, IMO.

you all are a bunch of retarded fanboys...

the car looks good..., i am sure performs well and will be a nice piece of competition, which is good...

if you pencil necks are such great car designers, why dont you engineer one... 99% of the stuff posted about cars on here, is usually some form of rejection unless it is a BEEMER or a friggin Honda....

aficionados and experts... BS...get back in your civics and stuff you pie hole with some more taco bell
