Hyundai L90D+

I've been doing a lot of reading on the topic, and I've decided on buying a Hyundai L90D+. THG gives it a good review, and I've seen positive comments on it by other forum members.

What I wonder is if I have missed any other good alternatives in this price range. I'll be using it through DVI, I need crystal clear text display, and I want it to work great in games.

Oh, and one more thing. How can I determine which displays are 6-bit, and which are 8-bit? I've been looking at several manufacturers' websites, and all the specs I've seen thus far claim that their displays render 16.2/16.7 million colors. I've specifically looked at lower-end model specs, and it's the same thing. Nothing about color depth (6/8).

Thanks for any info.

One further clarification. I'm looking for alternatives from LG, Samsung or Hyundai. I want to purchase it from a specific local distributor, and those are the three brands they stock.

Because THG sucks? 😛

Everyone seems to like the Hyundai for fast response times.
I don't really know any alternatives for a decent 8 bit panel with good response times, but I'm sure the LCD users on here might.

6 bit panels are refered to as having 16.2 million colour (even though they don't), 8 bit really do have 16.7 million. Viewsonic VP191's seem to get good reviews.

its a great monitor the price and has a great display...

get a dell if u want a true 8bit and higher resolution...but i think the "6 bit haters" are a little overzealous...

How aggravating. 🙁
I was so set on getting it, and now I'm reconsidering buying the best 17" I can find instead.

If I'd buy a 6-bit display, I'd obsess over the fact that the pixels are flickering to simulate 24-bit. And then I'd wind up setting it to 16-bit, so that I'd know for sure that it's not making my eyes tired.

But then 16-bit gradients just suck! The difference between 65k colors and 16.7M colors is clearly visible anywhere you look, especially if you want image quality in games.

Ugh, off I go in search of an 8-bit screen.

I don't think you can find one that 8ms. If you can find an 8-bit that 12ms, I'd get that. With 16 ms panels, ghosting starts becoming more of an issue.
