I have a HYUNDAI L90D+ LCD monitor and a GeForce 6800 GT 8X AGP video card. The maximum and native reslution for this monitor is 1280X1024. I have my desktop set to that resolution and everything works just fine. WHen I go to play C&C Generals, it won't let me choose any resolution higher than 1024X768?? Why is that?? I should be able to choose 1280X1024 in C&C Generals Zero Hour like this monitor supports?

Any idea what the problems may be??

I have the monitor plugged into the DVI port on my video card so it is rreceiving a digital signal. It says my maximum refresh rate is 60Hz. I can't choose nay higher nor any lower? Is 60Hz common for all LCD monitors at any reolsution. If it is too low, could that be the problem. Anyways, I thought this was by far the best gaming LCD for the price, and I would be shocked to hear that you can't go as high as 1280X1024 resolution in games.

Help greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the game atually supports that resolution? Some games only supprt the 4:3 resolutions and 10x7 is the highest common 4:3 that monitor can do.

That refresh sounds a little low. Check the specs on the monitor, I'll bet it can do over 75 Hz at 1280x1024...

Edit: Do any other games do the same thing or are they all fine?

Update C&C Generals. EA has released several updates since the game was released. That might fix your problem. Also, try updating your graphics card drivers as well. There might be a fix in the drivers that are specific to C&C Generals. Don't feel too bad though. When i play Zero Hour, the "white" snow is "green" :( Drivers haven't helped me though.

The refresh rate says 60Hz. Even when I uncheck the box that says to hide modes that this monitor cannot display, it still won't let me choose anything other than 60Hz? I have the latest drivers. I did notcie that the drivers for the video card. I also have C&C Generals fully up to date.

BTW: I did notice that on my CRT monitor which had a maximum resolution of 1600X1200, the resolution choice in C&C Generals was 1280X964 instead of 1280X1024. Could that be the problem that LCDs cannot do anything oitside their native reolsution unless by horizontal and vertical pixels are in sink?

LOL, when I was playing Zero Hour on my old PC, occasionally the snow would turn silver, and the units would turn a dark reddish color. Drivers and patches did nothing. It was totally random and sometimes pausing the game, hitting the windows key, and then going back into the game made it dissapear. I found out after a year or so of it happening that it wasn't the video card, a borrowed one did the same thing. Very odd.

60 is the max/only refresh rate of the dvi connection. you need not worry about that.

as for the resolution, make sure the "hide resolutions my monitor can't support" is unchecked. if that doesn't fix it then its the games issue, as someone said having to do with the ratio. it does it to me in morrowind too while every other game i can go up to 16x12.

edit--iirc, when running off the vga analog connection you can specify refresh rates.
