car A -> car B -> car C

if car A slams into car B, which causes car B to hit car C, who's responsible for the damage to car C?
is it car A or car B?

Generally B. You should have been a safe distance behind, including at a stop.

But, if A was going exceptionally fast and no brake marks, etc, maybe A. But hard to prove.

typically car C sues car B who in turn sues Car A for the damages to his/her own car as well as car C

IF its at a stop light then car C can sue car A. you hit a car thats at a stop it is going to move. hit it hard enough it dont matter how far you stoped.

but car C can sue either A or B. in the case of suing B the B car wthen would sue C for his damage and the damage to A.

at least thats how i understood it (guy next door is a insurace person for All State)

Ugh! Too many letters...
If train A leave LA heading east @ 90mph and train B leaves NY an hour later at 75mph...
