Hypothetical World War 3: If the Iran, "Palestine", the Taliban & N. Korea started it...

Throw various impoverished African nations into the mix as well (Somalia, Libya, etc)...

Granted this is totally hypothetical, since pretty much N. Korea is the only nation in the list with any sort of real organized military... but I'm curious to see whether China and Russia would back the western world or not.

WWI started over a serbian shooting an austrian. But the system was much more fragile, and countries did total war instead of proxy wars.

China and Russia would not take sides, they would just provide equipment, etc. They would be in it to make money. And a side benefit would be the world destroys each other while they sit pretty.

A world war wouldn't be started with those countries unless it was some sort of straight out of James Bond conspiracy thing where they trick the super powers into thinking they're attacking each other, etc...and thats not going to happen.

Otherwise those smaller nations would just get beat down in a total war. I think the threat of nuclear war would cause all the major nations to swiftly and quickly suppress countries like Iran from doing anything.

In reality, a likely war started in those mentioned countries would like just stay localized there and not really consume most of the entire world like the first two world wars.
