I was looking at different RAM for OC my 2.6C, and I was looking for HyperX PC3200, but they were out, and right by it was PC3500 for only $121. How reliable and how well do the HyperX PC3500 at overclocking? XMS PC3200 is $112, which is just a little cheaper. If HyperX PC3500 is good for overclocking, then I'm going to get that.

I would give this stuff a try. THe XMS3200c2 does only 200MHZ and not so much more, anything higher than 210MHZ is pure luck. THE LL stuff is great for overclocking but at $140 per 512mb stick, its not cheap:).

I have (2) 256mb sticks of HyperX PC3500 running 2.0-2-2-5 @200MHz / 2.77v in my 8RDA with no problems. I think it mem tested ok at that speed upto 205MHz.

Never really tried for top FSB speeds, i'm more of a low cas latency freak.

My two XMS3200c2 256's are running 220.5 at 2.85v using Dual channel (441 DDR) sync'd

No 'luck' involved.

cuz, I sent one stick back (I damaged it) that did cas 2.0 with 2 2 5 using Dual channel.

The replacement wouldn't do 2 2 5 ,,, so I'm cas 2.0 with 3 3 6 now. (sync'd)

The bigger sticks are the ones that have issues.

Whoa now I'm lost. Okay, I'm going to overclock a 2.4C. And say I had PC3200. Isn't it originally 200Mhz? So that means I can only push the ram up by 5Mhz? Or do I have it totally wrong? I'm a totaly n00b when it comes to OCing. At first it seemed easy, but now that I'm getting into more details, I'm getting confused.

good ram like XMS, HyperX, TwinMos, Mushkin, etc... go above the rated Mhz rating. when u buy good ram, you can expect it to run at a higher speed

Okay, well someone said that XMS can only do 205Mhz, that means only 5Mhz more than it's original state I guess. Isn't that a waste? Or do I totally have it wrong? But wait, isn't PC3200 rated at 400Mhz?

ok, it's 200 Mhz but since it is DDR, it is effectively running @ 400 Mhz. i can only speak from my own experiance and every XMS pc3200 stick i have used has done 225 mhz (450 Mhz DDR)

My cousin has two sticks of xms 3200 in an 8RDA+ running at 215fsb synch. It is just hit or miss but most sticks of xms will do well over their rated speeds.

look here

Look what I can do! WEeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEeeeeeeee lol. I would say get the XMS PC3200 because that will give you a nice overclock. If you really want something to brag about, then go with the OCZ PC3500 or 3200.

My pc3200c2 xms hits the wall at about 218mhz. these are 512 meg modules I hear that the 256 meg modules usually do a little better.
