Yeah I fudged my knee up falling on the ice last week and did it again this past Monday. So is there any good dope I need to be bugging the doc to give me, because Advil ain't cutting it. The pain in my knee is really bad and keeping me up at night.

Or am I doomed to suffer with only ice and OTC crap for comfort?

Ice was your enemy and now it's your best friend. If it's really bugging you, it may be best to talk to your doctor about going to a physical therapist. If you've done it twice, there may be some damage. PT will help with pain and will increase functionality and wellness. If it's really bugging you, you can ask for a higher dosage of ibuprofen, but be careful 'cause it's not exactly liver healthy.

I didn't even think about PT, thanks for the tip. Right now my ranged of motion is about zilch and I'm sleeping with the aid of narcotics so I'm probably going to need some help before I feel safe lifting with my bad leg again.

Yeah, the first thing the body does to prevent pain is cut neural input to the vastus medialis (the quad muscle closest to the knee on the inside of the leg). It's really important for ROM so that's why you lose your ROM so quickly with knee injuries. I'd definitely see a PT to start getting that ROM back and strengthening the knee as a whole. Hope it works out for ya, man. Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes.

Update, turns out my knee is fine and the problem is I have a DVT in my leg. On one hand narrowly avoiding death is a bad thing, but on the other hand it is nice to know that I'm not such a fragile little flower that a fall on the ice will throw out my knee.
