HyperDuo / Asus SSD caching does not work. Came up with my own idea...

I've been trying to get Asus SSD caching and/or HyperDuo to work for the past week without success. I have a 4TB drive with data that I want to use with a 256GB Vertex 4. Safe mode (mirroring) does not seem to do anything. All application and games load in the same amount of time as it does with the HDD alone. Capacity mode (HHD + SSD spanning) seemed to work at first, but after you fill up the array beyong the size of the SSD then nothing gets cached. I've tried to manually setup what apps/directories to cache through the Marvell Storage Utility, but it seems like it does nothing at all. It will analyse and attempt to "accelerate" the application, but no matter what I try it will always show "Not Synchronized". The data will remain on the HDD and load times will be the same as before. Not to mention that there is a bug in it where it won't see directories that have a comma in them. Totally stupid. I've given up on it.

The idea I had was to create a 128GB partition on the SSD for the OS and miscellaneous applications. Then create smaller partitions that can be used to volume mount to a directory. I would move the game/application I'm using to the partition on the SSD and then volume mount it to the original directory. Seems easy and doesn't require supporting hardware. I was also thinking of writing an app that could automate the process.
