Don't know if there is another post about this, but here I go ...

Hyper-Threading Technology on Intel processors: Is it any good to games?
 
Its only good for multiple threads. Games might benefit from system threads being more efficiently woven in with the game thread, but I'm not sure how many multi-thread games there are.
 
not really better. but if you say, run icq, aim, winamp, and quake III at the same time your system will be able to handle it better without having a seizure
