Hyper 6 on IC7-MAX3, done it!

I've just managed to get the Coolermaster Hyper 6 heatsink onto my IC7-MAX3 mobo. Granted my MAX3 is broken but it gave me a good chance to see how to modify my hyper6 to fit on.

I knew that it would fit if i took OTES off but my aim was to keep everything on the MAX3, OTES..original northbridge hsf.

First on the retention bracket i cut off a couple of notches that were sticking out. I can only guess they're somehow for use on Athlon 64. After doing this i could bolt the back plate and retention bracket together with enough room for all capacitors and OTES to fit on perfectly.

When i tried to seat the heatsink. the aluminium outer casing hit both the OTES unit and the northbridge heatsink. I though about removing the aluminium altogether and finding some other way of mounting a fan but i decided i could keep 80% of it and just cut off the bottom 3-4cm on each side. which i did with dremel cutting discs.

I've now got the main heatsink attached with otes etc and the original aluminium casing all i need to do is come up with a way to keep the outer housing secure.

very chuffed.

Anyone know the cheapest place to get a new MAX3 in the UK?
