Hyper 212 EVO will it fit in my case?

I noticed that my processor has started reaching temps of around 82-83 on full load (rendering etc)..I checked up hyper212 evo and it seems to be a really good choice but I have a doubt about it fitting properly in my case and on my MB. Will it also have trouble with the ram slots ?

Here is what I use.

Intel DH67CL MB and a cooler-master elite 311 case.

The Mod at CM says..
Re: Hyper 212 evo, elite 311

Hi,

The Hyper 212 evo will not fit in the elite 311 as the 311 has a width of only 159mm. Please kindly note.

As for the fans, as long as the fan has the same default placement as the original 120mm fans, it should fit on the case.

however CM's website says:

so 190mm-159mm = 31mm

Is the Mod counting the motherboard standoff's in and the height of the cpu off the board?

General rule of thumb...
Typically if the sink is a 120mm fan sink, it will fit in about 95% of all cases which have a 120mm fan.

This is what that mod from CM is stating.

But heres something better...

So after seeing that picture.... tell me how it wont work?

I will say 100% it will fit.
Unless u have a wacky board, which intel doesn't make.

Now who to trust?
the CM mod or the AT mod? :p

My NZXT source 210 was 195mm and it fit so snug I could touch the tip of the heatpipe by pressing on the side of the case.

Sometimes they manufacturer those heatpipes with extra slack on the ends. Depends on your particular unit.

@aigomorla That's the best advice someone has given me about this topic. It clearly shows that the hyper 212 evo fits in my case (what a coincidence he has the same colour as my case too :D). Thank you very much. I shall purchase it.

Hello,

Did you go through with the purchase. ?

I have the same MB / RAM / Case as your config and wanted to make sure that itd fit inside the case and that there won't b an issue with Tall RAM sticks or the GFX card as it's a mATX motherboard and the PCI x16 slot is right next to the DIMM sockets..

Your input would b highly appreciated.

Depending on your temps, you might not want to bother with a cooler upgrade. If you're getting into the 90's frequently, I'd look for a new cooler, but 82-83, like the OP? Not worth it, those temps are safe.

On Intel's CPU specifications page, Tcase for 4770 is listed at 72°C

ark.intel.com/products/75122/Intel-Core-i7-4770-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

I intend to keep my 4770 below that..

Tcase is not the same as core temperature.

Tcase is the temperature measurement using a thermocouple embedded in the center of the heat spreader. This initial measurement is done at the factory. Post-manufacturing, Tcase is calibrated by the BIOS, through a reading delivered by a diode between and below the cores.

Case Temperature is the maximum temperature allowed at the processor Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS).

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000005597.html

As I understand it, Tcase cannot be measured, and is a derived value from core temperature. Your CPU will not throttle until the cores reach 105c - Intel allows their warrantied CPUs to run at 105c before throttling. You may find it virtually impossible to bring your core temperatures below Tcase while running an AVX load, even with the most expensive aftermarket air or water cooling.

I don't plan on running my CPU at 105°C or run avx loads.. Nor do I want it to run at 80-90°C that it gets in summers..

Hence, I'm posting here asking questions abt compatible components for my PC/Case.

Would appreciate if you could provide an input on the same..
