is there a big cooling difference between these two? how big is the difference in terms of cooling performance? is the +5-10$ worth it in your opinion?

Not a huge difference but the CM Hyper 212 Evo has no spacing between each heat pipe at its base. It is good because you have more heat pipes concentrated at the center of the heatspreader.

The EVO is also slightly louder.

I picked the 212+ for an FX6100 and really like how quiet and cool it is.

From my personal experience, I can highly recommend buying EVO and swapping the fan on it for something good, like the new Noctua (or something a bit cheaper) for example.
