I am trying to mount my Hyper 212 EVO on my i7-4770k (LGA 1155), and it doesn't seem to sit right. I think I mounted it properly, but the cooler seems to move a little bit despite being bolted tightly. I suspect I may have used a little too much thermal paste which may be causing it to slide.
The cooler also seems to be touching the bracket which holds the processor down to the motherboard (Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H). Is this supposed to be?

mine in 3 computers all have a touch of wiggle but they don't slide around if it feels like it might slide off the cpu double check the center post in the mounting bracket is firmly in the hole on the heatsink.

It will slide circularly regardless of how tight you clamp down. Its due to the design of the mounting hardware that relies on a center pin that causes it to have some movement. Over time the TIM should dry up a little and harden, making that problem less apparent.

Thanks all, then it appears I have mounted mine correctly.

However I don't think my fan is placed on the proper side. Right now the fan is facing the rear of the case, however a friend of mine is telling me it should be on the other side of the cooler facing the front of the case?

You could place it as suggested. You could also mount an additional fan with the provided bracket for a push pull configuration.

Is the fan bracket supposed to allow the fan to slide easily off the cooler? Because if I tilt my case, the fan+fan bracket sorta slide off the cooler.

Definitely not. You have to unclip it, it should not slide off.

For best performance, you want the air to be blown towards your rear exhaust.

edit: I have the Hyper 212+, but same rule should apply for the fan clips since they seem to be identical.
