Hyper 212 Evo fan won't snap in

I recently bought a Hyper 212+ Evo for my i7 3930k. The problem I'm having with it is that the tabs on the fan's mounts won't snap in all the way on the heatsink. It's like the rubber pads are too thick or something. I can get one side to go in all the way but it just settle in instead of clicking in place. The other side of the fan' s tabs are almost in the notches of the heatsink, off my half a mm, but I don't want to put anymore pressure to get the fan to fully snap to both sides of the heatsink. I don't want to break my CPU or CPU socket on my motherboard. Anyone here had a hard time getting the fan's mounts to snap into both sides of the heatsink?
