Hynix Memory in K7S5A ?

I don't see why it shouldn't. Note that you don't have to use PC2100 RAM - the board will just as happily use PC3200. You just won't make use of the frequency headroom, it'll still run at 133 MHz not the 200 that PC3200 allows.

After adding new RAM, you always should check it. www.memtest.org

Thanks. I know I can use PC3200 but this PC2100 is nice and cheap...and cost is a priority. Next system will probably be at least two years away and who knows if PC3200 will be useful then...

Thanks,
CXP

Actually, if you shop around, you might find a better deal. I got a 512 stick of pc3200 for $20 after rebate recently at Fry's, and pricewatch has some deals with free shipping.

Exactly - and with PC3200 RAM in, you can tweak the K7S5A's RAM timing settings to the max and it'll still be stable. There's an impressive speed gain to be had from this alone.

No time to shop around and I don't want to deal with rebates. Got to get this system out the door by the end of the week. THanks anyway...
