fire at the facility caused one minor injury but did not cripple critical equipment.

Reports are still coming in, but the effects are immediate – with memory prices already shooting up by 10% in the first hour after reports started.

This is one of the main factories for nVidia GDDR5

Will Titan go back to $1000?
Will we see the same thing that happened to HDD market after the flood?
How will this impact PS4 pricing (8GB of GDDR5), does it use Hynix memory?
Will this event boost DDR4/GDDR6 introduction rate to PC market?

If there is something than Western Digital teached us, is that you can still post record highs profits right after you lose a fab. DRAM manufacturers are used to razor thin profit margins and this is an excellent excuse for everyone to raise prices fueled by speculation. Chances are that RAM will not even be scarse, yet should will have to pay much more for it. It was already on the rise from the record low around 9 months ago.
To be honest, I would even consider this sabotage considering how convenient a catastrophe is for the DRAM market.

GFX cards will go up in price from both camps. DIMMs will as well. And Sony is...crying.

So I was like, ok, maybe it's just a small amount of smoke from an open window or two.

Then I saw the pictures and oh my it's looking like total loss of multiple buildings?

At least they are speculating that only 15% of the WORLD's capacity to produce this memory will be gone.

Good that it seems there is almost no damages and casualities.

I would not like to again delay my purcharses plans because of price increases.
