Hydrogenated Oil = Trans Fat??.........(or no??)...

So I was literally about to come on here & ask this question & then upon reading the "Aspartame" thread (at least *today's*) I noticed that "confused1234" made a statement................

"FYI Hydrogenated Oil = TransFat"

And that's what I thought once upon a time, however, I'm noticing many of the labels in my house that say...........TRANS FAT ======= 0g have "hydrogenated oil" or "partially hydrogenated oil" in their ingredients.

Now, I understood that this was where "TRANS FAT" *CAME* from. How can the nutritional chart and the ingredient label contradict eachother??

(Or is there a loophole???) 😕

Hydrogenated oils are very toxic in the body and convert somewhat into transfats. They should be avoided as much as possible, which means dont' eat most packaged foods in the USA.

Ya, I'd read all that stuff before. It's definitely eye-opening reading compared to what you consider that we all have been eating for the last 50 years.

And if they can list 0.5g of fat why can't they list 0.5g of 'trans fat'????

If it has less than 0.5 grams/serving then they can say there is 0g. However, if you eat more than one serving, which most people end up doing, you are ingesting a substantial amount of trans fat.
