Not only do i get funky transparent drop down menus and transparent dragging windows, but also up to 9 virtual desktops (which with duallies adds up to a lot of real estate ;))...

And ultramon works in all of them, so i get my second taskbar in them too :D

Now to find a use for 9 virtual desktops...;)

EDIT: Confusing CPU usage situation: At least half as high a CPU usage jump dragging the taskmanager window about my dual monitor desktop when transparency is enabled as i do when transparent dragging windows is disabled....

is it offloading the work more onto my 9800 pro?

Cheers folks,

Dug.

So, can someone please explain to me why you would want several "virtual" desktops?

I've tried the dual monitor thing a few times, and each time it was a PITA, and I had no use for it...

Curious, why was it a pita...a desktop thats twice the width is usually a good thing, where more apps can be opened and in view at the same time.

Blue Weasel: yeah, it will give you the virtual desktops :)

Insane3D: i love my duallies, pointless unless you have ultramon and get the second taskbar tho...

once you use them for a week or so it's impossible to go back i found ;) Even a big single display doesnt give u the same freedom...

i like virtual desktops because they reduces taskbar clutter. when you are doing multiple tasks where each requires multiple windows, it's nice to have.

though the MS powertoy one takes too much space on the taskbar by itself :(

I guess for what I do, it was more of a PITA to set it all up than it was worth...for my usage anyhow. I basically have a firefox window with a few tabs open, and I occasionally game, but that's about it. I've never really needed any extra screen space. IT was also a PITA to get different resolutions on both monitors.

Edit:

I forgot I will have IM open too...but that's about it. For instance, right now, I just have one FF window with four tabs, and Trillian. That's the most I'll usually use. I don't really do anything else on my systems other than the occassional game, or use DVD shrink to back up a DVD...

Hell, I haven't even burned a CD in probably a month.
