Hybrid power chipset vs AMD 780G for power/performance

I am about to build myself a mini-atx system and the emphasis will be on getting a good balance of low idle power but decent gaming when I need it. Nvidias hybrid power chipsets paired with wither a 9800gtx+ or a gtx260 would seem like the ideal approach, however I have heard that the AMD 780g has very low power consumption, and the hd4850 also has good idle power consumtion compated to nvidia cards. Which would you recommend for the best idle power? Would Hybrid power completely shutting off the gfx card make up for the increased power consumption of nvidia chipsets over amd, or would amd be the better choice?

as far as i know the 48xx series actually does not have good idle power consumption compared to nvidia.
why are you trying to save power? to save money? to save the environment? if you want to be green, just switch over to 100% renewable energy, it costs about 10$ more a month, but instead of lowering your pollution by 10% you eliminate it completely, and you subsidize future investment into green power.
If you want to save money, then you need to compare how much money you will be saving vs how much more money you will be spending on that setup.
If noise is your goal, then this isn't about power consumption, its about noise.

If you live in an isolated area and on a solar power system that is not connected to the power grid, well, then power consumption is very important :)
